Colne Valley Miniature Railway

Miniature Railway

This is a 7.25 inch gauge railway which gives passengers a ride over some 600 metres of line. The railway runs alongside part of the standard gauge line of the Colne Valley Railway and is open 12.00 until 16.00 most days when the main railway site is open (weather permitting), but opening is also subject to volunteer staffing constraints. We may be able to operate specials, when the main railway is not fully open, please contact us with your requirements.

The open carriages can seat both children and adults, a coach to cater for those of limited mobility is also available. Please note that we cannot accomodate wheelchairs. A new longer Platform has been created for 2010.

No charge is made on main railway public operating days, although a donations box is provided to cover our running costs. The Miniature Railway recieves no other income, and has been provided for your enjoyment by one of our members .

At the further end of the line from the boarding station, is a halt and turntable. Passengers are welcome to alight here and watch the locomotive being turned before reboarding and returning to our departure station. Each journey takes approximatley 8-10 minutes depending on the locomotive in use.

Items of interest are being installed along the line particularly for the benifit of our younger visitors. The miniature railway has been installed with the help of and is operated and maintained by a small group of our volunteers.
